Breakthrough
Breakthrough was created at dawn on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a place I had photographed many times without success. On this morning the lavender-blue tones of sky and water blended into stillness while the broken remnants of a pier stood against the rising light. When I saw the finished image, I knew it was the first time my vision and my craft had come together. It remains both an arrival and a beginning, a turning point in my work.
